Sort of off topic, sort of not, but I just spoke with one of the instructors here and she just spoke with Frank Taylor, he is hoping to be able to do his talk with the school here early next week. If not a week or two later. I plan on recording this discussion with him, he has already mentioned talking about critical thinking and what it takes to have a safe AND fast aircraft that conforms to the rules. I will ask his permission to post the video for all to see. This discussion could not have come at a better time when it comes to air racing and our push forward. Anyone have any questions you would like me to ask, feel free to send them my way. I will for sure mention our group and our goals!

Very Good. Activity breeds Activity… And air Racing is air racing, even If they are 5 Cubs at full throttle next to each other….

Ed, I found a 6 minute VHS tape shot by
an unknown with the label of Jericho
Pictures, Pasadena, CA. Likely a
follower of the IF1 group. It was
passed on to me by a local (DFW) news
station chopper pilot that befriended my
team at the 1989 ALB Race back in the
day. The only audio is FV race engines,
radio traffic, and minimal pylon judges
voicing at the end of the race.
Afterwards there is a short clip on the
upside down performer, I believe to be
Craig Hopkins, but I'm not sure about
that name. Any interest?

Yes, When We raced at ALB the first time, that may have been his first race, and he got 2nd in the gold race….It is a very light Sonerai…His wings were nice and appeared to have no filler in them, that saves a bunch of weight…The airplane is in safe storage right now, and he has indicated to me that he is probably not willing to sell it.

My quote was from the footage of the Albuquerque race. I may have edited that part out. Tom's was a nice one. Dave

Dave, thanks for putting that on….Incidentally, That was Steve Wittman's LAST race…He was , I believe 3rd place in the championship…At that race I was in the process of selling Blueberry to Jim Vliet, and Charlie. Charlie was 'in process' of putting together a better engine for her, and after this race it got its new paint job, and got a lot faster with the better engine…. One of the races was held during a drizzle, but it turned into a full blown rainstorm about the 4th lap, thats why there are images of very damaged wood propellers in the video….Ed

Awesome awesome awesome!!! That was such a pleasant surprise to see a new video out now!!! I especially loved the part at about 2:10 when you see the first 4 planes come around together, then hearing all the engines flying by, I cannot wait till we get this going again!!!!!!! Thank you so much Dave and Ed for sharing these! ✈
