Ed, unfortunately I sold the one-piece aluminum gear along with #33 in pieces to its former 1987-88 race pilot from Maryland...
I see no reason why any shop capable of making a one-piece Sonerai-1 gear (Grove for instance) couldn't make a one-piece V-Witt gear, just have them bend the lower part 'out' instead of 'in', that's what I asked John M. to do.
Disclaimer - I did not do an engineering analysis; I expect bending stresses at the fuselage attach point would be "slightly" higher only because the wheels would be further outboard spanwise (slightly more leverage). We've seen a couple of times the stock Sonerai-1 gear leg get bent in a hard landing, so there's not a lot of extra margin for the stock thickness gear leg. I've seen Charlie straighten a bent gear leg with a 'come-along'....
Of course, the steel axle is no longer a bolt-on commercially available item, you'd have to fab one up, some heavy welding there, have you seen the V-Witt axle drawing? And, the toe-out adjustment is more difficult, no more just adding thin washers between the axle and gear leg, it's gotta be set as you drill for the second axle attach bolt, one shot to get it right....

O.K........I would like to have a lighter gear fro my Veebee.....But the steel one I have will work for a while....

would a tailwind/rv round rod type be lighter landing gear for the new design?

Not for my new design, as my fuselage is all built, with motor mounts in place. A one piece bent slab gear is what I designed around. My steel Cassutt gear will be fine, but an aluminum one would save weight....

So you are that far along with your design look forward to seeing it fly. Will taller pilots fit🙋? Can a Sonerai 2 low wing built as a single place compete may be shorten wing from 84 sq to the 74?

My VEEBEE is 3/4 built, but on hold, while I act as caregiver for dad, out of state. When I get back home, I plan on returning to the Sonerai #14 restoration well along. I Don't expect the Veebee to get worked on again till 2018.... The headrest and fin can be raised for taller pilots. The Sonerai 2 series of aircraft will have their own division in Supervee....

IFALLDOWN.......If you want a project that is well along, and available for less than the materials cost, You ought to buy that Renegade in TX. The engine alone is work 75% of the asking price of $2500.......Or get a Sonerai 2, they are plentiful and inexpensive....

Yes and as I stated in our emails I have an old KR2 to part out to add to airplane fund and will not know until mid month about the renegade. Also yes the renegade is tempting the concerns are will I fit,no plans? no wings, wing design is for 5g (sounds like you have that part engineered) and an 1600 engine sitting for 30 to 40 years with unknown condition to start with is worth maybe $500 and it is in Texas and me in MN.
I have room and money for one aircraft at a time and wish to have one that will fit what I wold like to do. Sonerai 2 is close.

Ifalldown, You are in a tough spot but I think anything can be made to fit(within reason - no Cassutts). If you have the Tony Bingelis books, use his info, or maybe find some online of how to best fit a cockpit to you. Take your "ideal" angles and measurements, mark it up against the wall and then start asking around for some plane measurements. I can tell you what the V Witt measurements are. We have a member with a raced Lasher project and the other marques are all over the place. Do please get your angles(knees, hips, seat angles-using SV limits, height, etc.) all measured first as measurements like seat back to pedals might mean little without the other factors. I could likely even find a pilot your size to sit in the VWitt. I think pilot girth would be more of an issue than overall height. Don't fail to consider that these planes were never really designed for much more than a 15 minute session. Sure, they have been flown cross country but they are lighter than a Champ or Cub and are far less roomy. Just sayin' Dave

Thanks: good insights from all of you. I did a mock up of a sonerai one and I would have to add 4 inches to fuselage height to raise the spar box and tilt seat back and add some to the front. I know modifieng is bad I can run some basic analyses
