Couldn't figure out another title. Ed sent me the name of the website-had no idea and am now pretty excited and want to get involved. About me-I live in Tri Cities, WA. For projects, I have a Cassutt that has 29 hours and is currently in the shop getting a cowling makeover along with a few other things. I had some major cooling problems, but am hoping increased volume of cooling plenums will help. The other is a flying Fischer Horizon 1 that I just hung an O-200 on and am waiting for warmer weather to fly it. The hangar has a foot of iced snow in front of the door. Finding this site changes things for me. The dream job has always been crop dusting, but life got in the way of that and I ended up 20 years in the Navy. Cropdusters seem to gravitate to air racing-I did the same of sorts without being one but knowing a few-the Wittman Tailwind I had didn't help either V-Witts are really cool to me. Anyway, my plans are now to get some hours on the Horizon and let it go for a Sonerai 2 if I can find one for racing, and build a V-Witt. I am enjoying the posts and pics of the build. Thanks for this website guys and if I can help in anyway let me know. Jerry

Jerry, Thanks for joining, and welcome....We also have Facebook presence, look for 'Supervee Air Sports' Having a Cassutt to fly while building something else is a good plan. Best of both worlds In my book....This forum is to help people get their machines ready so we can start Supervee......It has been slow, but we had a good forum at OSH last summer, and a couple of our members are close to flying......

Hi Jerry, We welcome you to the group with great enthusiasm! Unfortunately we don't post much as we are pretty busy working on preparing our racers but hopefully this changes when the activity picks up soon. Joe

I think it is going to be a good year for aviation. We talked at length about this at the last chapter meeting. Boeing up here is looking for people, esp composites-they'll even train for free I am hearing. The quote was if you are 70 years old and want to learn and work, they'll train you. Anyway, our flight instructor has 15 students ready to start-no advertising. That is huge because he has been in a dry spell for a while. The town the chapter is located has 6000 people and to have that many students waiting is amazing. We have 10-12 members that in our Chapter that actually participate. With that, we have 1 young person that just joined and another thinking about it. Good stuff man!
I am working for a company that builds NDT equipment for mainly Pratt and Whitney. P&W is booming right now with their new engines that are competing with the CFM 56 (737, A-320). They can't poop engines fast enough. If any young person wants to become an airline pilot, now is the time before these new airplanes are finished, and there are a lot of them (5000 engines on order).
I'm digressing, aren't I? Aviation has been down too long. I have put a lot of thought into being born at the wrong time. For the first time, I have hope I am wrong. That's why I got so excited when Ed pm'd me about this. I really had no idea. Freakin cool! Even if I don't have a racer yet, I will help out if/when I can.
Anyway out of those 10 members that participate in our EAA chapter, there is mine, a Hummel H1, and a Legal Eagle under active construction. Not bad and they're doing bang out jobs! I'm going to try and get them here too.
