I am planning to load up the Renegade project with a lot of extra airplane parts and head to the Oshkosh "Fly Market". If anyone has an interest?

Hi Lex, I hope you get some interest (and maybe another person on this forum will be the result!) I'm not familiar with the Renegade but does it have a bit more pilot room than the Sonerai? I have some pilot friends that have shown interest couldn't close the canopy on my Sonerai (they are about 6'2-6'3")

Not really. This one is not built to plans though, and just like some of the Cassutts, the builder added some headroom with a taller turtle deck and canopy.
A friend of mine is 6'3" and he fit in a Sonerai but not the Lasher/Willingham Renegade, which were both built to plans.
As with all homebuilts, see if you fit before you buy it!

Ed,
Yes, I sold it.
Yes, I sold it.
I couldn't help it. It was a double question, right? I don't know who bought it though. It was sold through the Aero Market.
I enjoyed your presentation on homebuilding and I believe you helped inspire some new builders.

Lex...Thanks for the nice comment...I hope you are right..we need homebuilders .... Yes, I sometimes send things twice. twice. A big guy came to my booth saying he wanted to take your renegade and cut it up, stretching it to a two place.....I really tried hard to discourage that....Wonder where it went...?He was from western Canada....Ed Ed

Ed,
You did do very well as a mentor. I too, look up to you for your building and designing skills. And that's no bull.
I tried to discourage the person you described as politely as I could too. He claimed to weigh only 225lbs. I suspect he would add too much aft ballast. As we parted, another approached who had been listening, and said he would buy it for sure. I do not know who did buy it. All other matters were handled by the EAA managing the money. I hope it is resurrected and flown in capable hands as another Formula Vee!

Thanks for the kind words.... I hope it is resurrected as well...I have too many projects, otherwise it would be in my shop right now. Ed

Not the Purple Renegade from this thread, but a Renegade with an Orange wing just came up on EBAY…I just looked at the ad.., It is August 20th, 2015.…It looks to be all there, minus maybe a canopy. Has a bunch of Monnett VW engine parts, and a sonerai cowl….It is under $400 bucks right now, and it is in Illinois…..We need to save this Renegade from the grips of somebody who might think it is an Ultralight!!!!
