I am snooping around, looking for projects that may, if put in the right hands, Build the Supervee list. We need airplanes, owners, and pilots to get Supervee off the ground. I finally spent an enjoyable day working on #31 yesterday....Activity breeds Activity....As I discover projects for sale I will alert the group here....Ed

Finding and collecting parts is fun! I find it most challenging getting all of the collected parts assembled as one...

Yes, and it is all worthwhile. I would hope that in the next twelve months at least two other Supervees become flyable, safe and competitive, to go along with Jeff's #64.... Sonerais are the easiest to obtain and rebuild, mostly because parts were (are) more available than those for Renegade's or V-Witts. So Far I can account for only 17 V-Witts that were ever built and flown......There were over 100 Sonerai 1's flown.....Ed

I had a couple hours over the last two days, so I removed the fabric from my plywood skinned V-witt wings. Got inside for a look see thru some lightening holes in the tip and root ribs. Used a small mirror and flashlight. Was pleasantly surprised at how clean everything was in there, and that the glue joints looked good. I still have not located the fuselage, Will be making another trip over to coastal N.C. in a couple weeks to snoop around. These wings could end up donors for one of two Vee projects that I know that need wings......Still no problem meeting the 51% rule. .....Fun stuff.....Ed

There is a somewhat rusty Sonerai 1 fuselage and tail, sitting on a Sonerai 2 gear, for sale in Barnstormers....Man is asking $1200 bucks. Looks to be 'stock'.....If its not too rusty, it could be a great head start on a Supervee......Ed

There is a well built V-witt for sale on barnstormers, Several of my old FV friends owned it at one time or another. It is on Barnstormers, the man is asking 3 grand, and is open to offers, and can deliver, within reason, for fuel money……Looks like a good winters work could see it finished….Ed

Ed, I saw that project and the came here to see if anyone had also seen it. By your statement it sounds like it has had quality construction up to this point. I am interested in it, but I am in Eastern Colorado. So transportation could be as much as the actual project. Any suggestions?

Neil……..You are right, Transportation of projects today is a much bigger deal breaker than it used to be……I have a Mong project in the Denver area right now, that is going to cost about what its worth to get it here!! If you really want a V-witt, perhaps learning how to weld and building one from scratch is a lot more cost effective than buying a Project over 1000 miles away!! Its worth a try to contact him about making an offer, and ask him to come half way on the delivery….Maybe Iowa would be halfway for both of you?….Ed

Ed, I make lots of trips to Denver. We could try to get your mong project to you and the v-witt out here. Would it be possible to transport the v-witt in the back of a pickup bed if one built a support for the tail and down to the receiver hitch?
I can weld, just don't have the time to finish an aircraft from scratch. Something like this is what I can handle. Neil

Neil, Thanks for the offer, but I have signed on as of late last night with a shipper right here in Columbia….. I believe the V-Witt is way too long for a pickup truck bed. I imagine the fuselage from firewall to tail post is probably 13 feet? Maybe you should contact the seller, and try to work up a meeting place halfway between Detroit and Colorado….Ed

Yes, It is, For me especially, since I know just about all its history. I, However, have three Supervee projects already, and three Mong projects… Since this particular V-Witt was started by a Formula Vee guy, and went thru so many Formula Vee people, I was able to follow its locations over the years. It should be finished as a Supervee, not left crowding a tool shed or workshop. We need more people to join in with us, as we have more airplane projects available than people to own and fly them…….Right now, ( if time and $$$ was not an issue,) If I wanted to own a Supervee 'air force' I could purchase three more projects right now, because they are out there!! I have three already, so the next step would be to get a 53 ft. motor freight truck, and show up for competitions with six airplanes!! …..here I am Dreaming again……... Getting the PEOPLE is the hard part!!!…ED

I have been talking to the gentleman with this v-witt. It is missing the plywood skins for the wings. Does someone know the specs on the plywood needed for this? Also know of a good source? I am thinking about meeting him at the Wicks store and picking up the plywood at the same time...Neil
At 6'2" will I be able to fit in a v-witt?
