I've been talking with several former FV people about meeting up at Oshkosh 2017, and everyone seems to like the idea. I'm thinking we could meet at Ed Fisher's SuperVee forum and/or go out to dinner at a local restaurant. Who's interested?

I'm interested if you'll allow new FV pilots!

Jim Vliet, "the one and only". It's great to read this offering. I would really like to attend. I'll look into a plan. Have not been to OSH since 1996. Tom Walker

Talked with Bob King the other day, he raced #20 'sunbeam' and #77 'Blueberry', and indicated that he wants to be involved in Supervee, and will attempt to be at the OSH forum and reunion. At this time we do not anticipate being able to have a designated parking row, due to completed racers not being available......Maybe next year?.......

Looking forward to the Air Adventure 2017. Have the tickets and camp Scholler reservations. Will arrive about 18 July. Plan to volunteer a bit during the stay. Of course plans are to attend all the forums presented by everyone I know. Tom

Hi Tom, good to hear from you....I have not corresponded with Jim Vliet recently, but a suggestion is to have a FV reunion get together of sorts after my Supervee forum, and when I find out when my two forum's times are, I will post it here. Glad you are making the trip!!....

Ed, Maybe a post for another forum but how many FV guys that are interested in SV still have their mothballed planes? Not only are they the ones we look up to but they could really get us kickstarted! Dave

Dave, I put a list together years ago, on this forum, I will have to go back and look at it. You are right. For starters, Dave Patterson is about 50 miles from OSH, and he still has #88.... I will look at the list tonight....

From my list, there aren't many. Dave P. with #88 showed some interest in Supervee, but i have not been able to convince him to get involved....Of the others, #10's owner had been hot and cold about selling, #18 is tied up in an estate, #45 is in storage in W.V., #84 is in storage in TX., and #90 is being refurbished and re-engined in Louisiana...Of this group the ones that may get involved are #90, #88, #84 possibly. The rest of them are not following Supervee.....

Well, I have said basically that....And have been for 10 years now....Formula V former race pilot Bob King wants to get involved again, but he will have to fly someone else's bird, as he is not an owner.....I stay in touch with him a couple times per year.... Most people are in a wait and see mode......This is not new to FV...Thats how FV got started....Promoters, air show people were waiting for ten FV racers to show up at their event.....while the ten FV potential builders/pilots were waiting for the events to come together... Chicken and Egg....... Jim V. knows this dilemma all too well.... Of the old FV airplanes and competitors, Dave Patterson with #88, "Zoomy" and Dave Myers (Not you Dave) with #90 'Jitterbug' are probably the closest to flying a former FV...They both get my newsletters but I rarely get updates from them..... Of the new people who I have issued race numbers to, only V-Witt Dave and Joe B. With Sonerai #15 are actually re-building with the goal of participation. ( I am not currently working on Beetlebomb #14, you guys know why....) I don't know if we will even see Jeff L. with #64 competing in the AV Cup this year...He got an offer to race a Sport Class Harmon Rocket, I believe... I am open to suggestions.........

What are the chances?!!!!.....My Supervee Air Sports forum is Tuesday, July 25th at 1 pm.......And Jim Vliet's "Remembering Steve Wittman" forum is the exact same time....... I was hoping that this would not happen, and it did......ED
