Working on making a fuel tank from .050 5052. Fortunately my project had an old dried out fiberglass tank for inspiration. I have seen Sonerai tanks that look similar but I wouldn’t call it an easy one to make from aluminum - especially if you want to edge weld flanged edges. After making one set of front and back bulkhead pieces I found it nearly impossible to get the sheet to match the radii. You can’t just wrap it around them. Finally got the sheet where I liked it with one flanged seam but not fitting the bulkheads. I now plan to trace the id of the ends onto wood to make new bulkheads. Onward and forward! Dave

This past week I sprayed the final coat of poly brush on the wings. Also got some steel alloy machine screws to get the wing tips mounted. My method of attaching those was a little “different”. Since I had fabricated the tips prior to the final wood covering of the wings, there was a little leading edge difference - about 3/32. Fortunately they aren’t proud of the leading edge! I remember knowing I didn’t want that! I’m waiting for some “smurf poop” to cure and by this week I should have the ultra lite fabric applied to the wood wings. Dave
