Sonerai Builder Tom M. is helping me with a prop extension, and this will allow me to start the fitting of a cowling. After cowl will be canopy, then pants.......

Glad Tom is involved. Glad I got to meet him - seems like a prince of a guy. What's the status to date? Dave

At one point I issued a race number to Tom for his 2L Sonerai. His is the one with the beautiful canopy.... Last week I got the prop hub in the mail from Tom. Beautiful. As soon as I have time and get the shop re-configured, having the prop extension hub will allow me to start fitting the cowling....

Any progress, Ed? I was a bit sidelined by my father's passing and now by necessary house work/painting. Still fitting the right side cowling pieces and close to starting on the engine. Dave

I am sorry to hear of your father's passing. I had not heard that. Glad you are still making some progress. Short answer, little progress. Sonerai 2 builder Tom M. made me a beautiful prop extension for my unique setup, a Supervee cowl with a HAPI prop flange. I have had a rash of problems with family and business, In August, Father in law had a heart attack and bypass surgery, I am helping him now during the day. Aunt passed away last week, and am trying to re-start my business after being out of state for 10 months taking care of Dad, and trying to get quotes for a new shop to be built. For some reason its difficult to get contractors to commit to doing anything down here. I don't know what to do about the shop situation. My present shop is too small for the work I do.... It's just not looking good for the hobby at this point. Just being honest.

I am slowly working on #14, currently fitting the plexiglass bubble. Fuselage is about ready for paint. Recently, in a visit with Jim Vliet, Mister Formula Vee, we had a good discussion about having a display of the three original FV racers for Oshkosh 2019.....I contacted Lex Cralley who owns #7 Renegade, and he has agreed to at least look at the possibility of getting it restored for OSH 2019. I think I could get Beetlebomb cosmetically done by then, and if we could convince EAA to let us have #1 V-witt out on the flight line for the week, we would have all three of the original first race formula Vees together once again, even tho the three pilots are all deceased. This would be great for Supervee.....!!!

That would be really cool and a good segway. If the great EAA powers would allow, a few of us need to get Steve’s plane tidied up a bit. I visit and photograph it every year and it’s been steadily getting worse. Maybe we could reattach a few fairings and get the canopy straight so it will sit closed(the new problem I noticed this year). Great idea!
