Joe, Yes on the weather. Here in the Columbia area we were shut down for two days so far. I can't get my shop warm enough for paint to flow either. Good that you have engine work in front of you…..Engine projects can make progress in very small spaces, and small spaces are much easier to heat. I have a one car garage bay under the house that I use in the winter for things like wing rib building and such…….Good Luck and Press On!!!…Ed

Balancing family, work, flying and building. Small setbacks but steady progress on my S1, I have a feeling things will progress along nicely during reassembly. Hope everyone is well and making some progress on their projects as well!

I didn't even feel the quake. I was sleeping. Must have a good bed. Val was up and felt it, and heard it, and woke me up. Yes, the balance is delicate, and I am not in balance right now. Am not spending any time on the racers…..working SAA after full work days. Doing much more fabrication help lately, helping others get their projects done...

Is your control column out of a J-3 Cub?….Looks like it. Do you haver gear wedges yet, Believe me, I think you will want them!!…Your lower longeron looks good, did you go ahead and add a wood stringer there?…Good luck on the rest of the fabric work….Any Paint scheme / color ideas?…Ed

Not sure what the control column is out of, I don't think that it is from a cub but does not appear to be homemade from someone's garage either? This will stay for now, maybe next year I will make a new column like Jeff made for his racer with the smaller tubing for headroom.
No gear wedges as it came but the gear was reversed when I got it. I picked up some supplies to fabricate wedges and I'd like to turn the gear back around (I prefer the look of the flat portion of the gear leg facing forward).
On the longerons, I trial fitted the wood stringers and really liked the flowing lines but decided against any extra work - I want it get flying! I ended up just bending the tubing slightly hoping for a better 'line'. In the end I think it still came out nicely!

If it is not J-3, Your control column appears to be Pitts or Acro Sport….Indeed this is an area to save weight in the future. The new control column that Jeff made is similar to what I have been doing with the Mongs in recent years,( thats where Jeff got all his tube sizing.) When Your ready, I can help with that….I believe the gear wedges are a 'Must do' Item….Ed

Well, no pictures but engine is back on (temporarily) with new motor mount. Today's project was installing the gear wedges and refitting the gear. Looks like the lower cowling still goes on with no trimming required, actually it will need to be filled in where the gear legs used to be! My friend is prepping my wings for paint, which turned into some repairs as he got looking inside (improperly repaired crack and poorly installed S-mod). He said he will be finished with all of that work next week. Still have some more painting to do, then lots of little jobs from front to back. Hoping to be making airplane noise soon, it's starting to come back together!

Race Pilot Andrew Buehler and Myself were able to Visit with Joe and see his Supervee Sonerai this past weekend, and it looks great! We need a half dozen projects at Joe's state of completion, and we will have a Supervee Racing class. His Green / white scheme looks good…won't be long now!!!…Ed

It was great having you come by, now that it's warming up I need to get the composite work done on the cowling and put all the pieces together!
